2021/2022: Gadmen - a mountain village that believes in its future

GOVERNOR'S SOCIAL PROJECT: Landlust instead of rural exodus!

The space! The peace! The prices! The city dweller loves to rave about life in the country - and then would rather not move there. Often not even the villagers themselves want to stay. It's completely different in Gadmen!

Here, the determined community with its dedicated and open-minded inhabitants is committed to its valley community. A supposedly forgotten mountain village takes its future into its own hands and the village not only lives on, it really comes alive.

This year’s social project is concerned with conserving the community life in the mountain village of Gadmen, above the Aare Gorge, at the foot of the Susten Pass. The village was forgotten for a long time until the population decided to take its future into its own hands. The village community has launched many volunteer undertakings such as organising cultural and sporting activities for young people and families, but financial resources are still not sufficient to achieve all the goals in a sustainable way.

UPDATE!

Thanks to the contributions of Inner Wheel Switzerland-Liechtenstein members, the approx. 3 km long "Goldvreneli Trail" could be laid out and completed.
